LAUREL HIGHLANDS

Laurel Highlands Vistors Bureau Website

This site starts with resort and area properties in the Laurel Highlands, where we live. Click the link above for an aerial view of this area. Zoom in and use the birds eye view for best results. If you are thinking of a real estate transaction here, it is a buyers market in all the resort properties. If you moved our local houses to Pittsburgh or Virginia suburbs you would be paying 20% to 50% more per square foot. If you go to the resorts in the area it becomes more a neutral market, but we are still way below Colorado and Utah resort prices. Even though we are seeing stable or slightly declining prices, the Laurel Highlands still offers the second home buyer reasonable prices and great resources.

Our three local ski areas in the Laurel Highlands are 7 Springs Resort, Hidden Valley Resort, and Nemacolin. These are all about a 90 minute drive to the south east from Pittsburgh PA and about 3.5 hours from Washington DC. These resorts are 4 season, and offer a full slate of summer activities to include golf, swimming, tennis, hiking, horseback riding, and other unique activities such as the alpine slide, challenge courses, climbing tower and skeet and trap range at Nemacolin and Seven Springs. Each resort offers on and near resort lodging. For more information about these resorts and the Laurel Highlands, go to the visitors bureau site in quick links. With Hidden Valley being bought by Buncher Group of Pgh several years ago, we are seeing significant improvements at this resort, and expect more.

The Laurel highlands offers the visitor and the resident an endless offering of outdoor activities, historical sites, cultural events, and quick access to Pittsburgh, just 60 miles away. We are in the birthplace of the United States and the history of our country here is rich and endless. From the resorts in the Champion area you are just minutes from great hiking such as the Laurel Highlands trail, the National Highway (Route 40) that Braddock and Washington carved out opening the “Frontier of the Americas”, biking and easy access to the rails to trails system from Pittsburgh to Washington D.C., great climbing and bouldering at local craigs, Coopers Rocks, and Seneca. There is class III to V whitewater at Ohio Pyle, skydiving at Connellsville, miniature golf in Donegal, bowling at 7 Springs, top dining and local wineries. If there is something you like to do from polka to parachuting, it is all here.

Bring your quad, snowmobile, motorcycle, or any other toy and get some of the best riding on the East Coast. For those of you into the winter sports we have tried to list many of the most popular resorts in the region (100 miles of our location) and links to their sites and links to informational sites about the areas. Click on Regional Ski Resorts to go to the site for ski areas. This is the Western PA Ski Council site and has the best list of ski areas in the area. Have any questions about anything, give us a call at 800-419-7653. We think once you come to visit your next move will be to come again.  Go to our local links page for links to the parks, attractions, visitors bureau, and Chamber of Commerce to help you with your visit to the area.
